Lorenzo Galluzzi   Assistant Professor of Cell Biology in Radiation Oncology

  • +1 646 962 2095

Lorenzo Galluzzi received his Ph.D. in 2008 from the University of Paris Sud/Paris XI (France), and now works as Assistant Professor of Cell Biology Research in Radiation Oncology at Weill Cornell Medical College (New York, NY, US). He is also Associate Professor at Université Paris Descartes (Paris, France), and Director of the European Academy for Tumour Immunology (EATI). Dr. Galluzzi provided major contributions to the discovery that adaptive responses to cellular stress, including autophagy, are key determinants for the recognition of dying cancer cells as immunogenic, and hence for the activation of clinically relevant tumour-targeting immune responses in the context of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Dr. Galluzzi has published more than 300 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and he is currently the 6th and youngest of the 30 most-cited European cell biologists (relative to the period 2007–2013).
