Dr. Renu C Mital is a Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). She is a Senior Associate Attending at the New York Presbyterian Hospital and an Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, where she has been on staff for the past 23. years. Dr. Mital graduated from the combined BS/MD program at Northeast Ohio Medical University and then completed a two-year residency in Orthopedic Surgery followed by an Emergency Medicine Residency at Summa Health Systems in Akron, Ohio.
Dr. Mital is Co-Director of the Physician Wellness Program in Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell. She has lectured and authored papers on physician well-being and is the recipient of the NY ACEP 2020 Exemplary Commitments to Physician Well-Being Departmental Award. Her program was highlighted at the National Academy of Medicine in May 2018 in Washington, DC as well as published in the Physician Leadership Journal in September 2017 and has been featured locally and nationally. Her work was most recently presented at the Cornell COVID-19 Summit and will be presented at the upcoming SAEM meeting in May of 2021. She is a member of the National ACEP Well-Being Committee, the Well-Being Task Force of New York Presbyterian Hospital, the all-NYC Well-Being Alliance as well as the GME Clinical Learning and Environment Review Committee of Columbia and Cornell. Dr. Mital is also a member of the ABEM MyEmCert recertification committee and sits on the Medical Advisory Board of the Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York. Dr Mital is a US Squash Senior Class Ambassador and sits on the Yale Parents Leadership Council.
Dr. Mital is an active member of the telemedicine faculty since 2017 and is currently involved in both clinical, educational and research projects within the department. Dr Mital enjoys lecturing and teaching medical students and resident alike as well as mentoring high school, undergraduate students and residents from underrepresented minorities as part of a new DiversifiED initiative at NYP/Cornell. Dr. Mital has also published a chapter on Wrist and Forearm Injuries in Emergency Radiology and has taught courses abroad in Disaster Medicine in Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India) as well as in Beirut, Lebanon.
