Localization studies for hyperparathyroidism: implications for surgery.

Overview
abstract
To localize enlarged parathyroid glands prior to surgery, various non-invasive methods are available: ultrasound, CT scan, MRI scan, Thallium-technetium scan and especially Sestamibi scan. The paper discusses the usefulness of these techniques in the initial exploration and in the re-exploration of primary and secondary hyperparathyroidism.
