Overview
abstract
Breast implants are used to increase breast size and for reconstructing the breast after surgery for breast cancer. Complications may include rupture, anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), and breast implant illness (BII). These appropriateness criteria apply to adults across the spectrum of gender diversity (including cisgender, transgender, gender nonbinary, gender diverse, intersex people, etc.) for evaluation of the breast implants only. These tests do not substitute for breast cancer screening.
