Sublobar Resection versus Lobectomy for Stage IA NSCLC - Takeaways from Modern Randomized Trials. Review uri icon

Overview

abstract

  • Sublobar resection for early stage non-small cell lung cancer has been an emerging topic of great interest to thoracic surgeons. However, data regarding the efficacy and safety of sublobar resection vs. lobectomy was lacking until now. Recently, three published randomized controlled trials (CALGB140503/Alliance, JCOG0802 and DRKS00004897) confirmed the non-inferiority of sublobar resection for early-stage NSCLC in carefully selected populations. This review aims to summarize and compare these three landmark trials and inform surgeons of new best practices.
