Davise H Larone   Professor Emerita of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Davise H. Larone, PhD, is Professor of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Professor of Clinical Microbiology and Immunology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and is the Chief of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Service at the Weill Cornell Center of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She is a nationally known clinical microbiologist with a special interest in medical mycology and is the author of the leading book on the identification of clinically encountered fungi. Dr. Larone is certified by the American Board of Medical Microbiology and now serves as the Standards and Education Committee Chair for Mycology. She also serves on the editorial boards of several journals, is the recent past president of the Medical Mycology Society of New York, in 2005 was recognized with the B.H. Cooper Award for her contributions to the field by the Medical Mycology Society of the Americas, and was chosen to receive the 2008 Max Littman Award by the Medical Mycology Society of New York. She speaks nationally and internationally on all aspects of clinical laboratory mycology. Her research concentrates on the development and improvement of rapid laboratory methods for detection and identification of infectious agents, including fungi, bacteria, parasites, and viruses.
