I am an epidemiologist at the Weill Cornell Center for Global Health. My research focuses on the prevention and treatment of HIV among adolescents and young adults in resource-limited settings, specifically in sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti. My goals are to develop effective and practical models of care which will reduce HIV-related mortality and decrease HIV transmission at the population level. My research has included demonstrating the effectiveness of a novel community-based testing strategy to identify high-risk adolescents who would not otherwise seek testing at an HIV clinic. I have also participated in the conduct of two randomized studies to test new models of HIV care designed to improve long-term retention and viral suppression outcomes for adolescents. Our goal is to develop multi-staged or combination interventions which address the plethora of diverse barriers adolescents living with HIV face to move them along the HIV care cascade, achieve viral suppression, and prevent further HIV transmission.

I also conduct research and provide training to increase the number of women in leadership positions in global health research.  I conduct research on the type and nature of barriers faced by female trainees conducting global health research in the US and low- and middle-income countries. We have developed a training curriculum to provide research and leadership training for early career female investigators to support their retention along the research career pathway and their promotion to leadership positions.
